The West Cork Choral Singers
The West Cork Choral Singers is a choir some 45 people strong which performs under the musical direction of Diana Llewellyn. The choir comprises singers from a wide range of backgrounds and countries (eight at the last count) and usually puts on three concerts a year in local venues.
The choir rehearses weekly at the Church Hall in Aughadown. The repertoire is broad, though there is a tendency towards sacred as opposed to secular music. Works performed include Handel’s Messiah, Karl Jenkins’ Armed Man, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Mozart’s Requiem.
In addition, the choir has hosted visits from a number of overseas choirs and itself organised various trips and concerts abroad. The choir is very privileged to have been invited to sing in a concert in the Carnegie Hall in New York in 2018.
